Isaac is an official beach bum. He loves the ocean, the sand, and the shells. He could sit and play in the sand for half an hour before getting restless. Yesterday we flew a kite that we'd brought with us, and Steven and I had so much fun! Isaac was a little preoccupied with his sand bucket and rake, so he didn't get too excited about the kite. That made for a funny sight - two adults flying an Elmo kite and their kid wasn't the least bit interested!!
Here are some pictures from the past couple days:

Our sand fort (Steven worked hard on this!):

Isaac glances at the kite above (see the excitement?!):

Our Elmo kite (one of the best $1 purchases I've ever made at Walmart!) That kite flew as well as any $25 one would!!

Steven flying the kite. Isaac is obviously still focused on his sand toys. :)

Dinner on the gazebo at Cinelli's:

Lunch at Sharky's on Ocean Isle (one of our favorite places for lunch here!):

Off to have some more fun!

what's the trick to getting him to like the ocean? nathan likes the beach, but the ocean scares him and he doesn't even want to get NEAR the water or get his feet wet (which is weird, he loves the pool). isaac looks so cute sitting there in the tide! what a sweet boy! :)
Honestly I have no idea! The first day we were here, he just walked right into the water! Every time we go out there he walks into the ocean with no fear whatsoever, and he KEEPS on going even though the water gets deeper. That's why we have to hold onto his hand. If we didn't, he'd probably just keep going on out and start swimming... I think one of the big challenges we're going to have as parents is helping to instill a healthy fear of some things while being careful to preserve his wild, adventurous spirit...
Maybe next year Nathan will be totally different... Sometimes I think it just takes time. At least you don't have to worry about him running into the water every five seconds!!
