Apple picking!
In mid September, we took the kids apple picking for the first time! We had such fun together! It was a gorgeous day, and we enjoyed picking apples, a wagon ride, apple slushies, and apple donuts!
We will definitely make this an annual family event from now on!
Granny's birthday!
In early September, we celebrated my Granny's birthday with dinner at Showmars and a visit with extended family. My cousin Eric, his wife Beth, and their daughter Skylar were in town from Arizona for the first time since Skylar's birth. Grace and Skylar are only two weeks apart!
We had a fabulous time catching up with everyone, having a family talent show (see my cousin Shannon doing her headstand below...), and enjoying each other's company late into the evening at Granny and Pawpaw's! Here are some pictures we snapped during our time together:
Weekend with Kati!
Kati and Ray came into town a few weeks ago. We had so much fun with them! Kati and I (with Grace in tow) had a sister day at the Southern Women's Show, which is an annual tradition for us.
We also celebrated Elise's 4th birthday with family over that weekend. Elise loved having Kati and Ray to celebrate we birthday!
Steven was also playing in a wedding that weekend, so Kati came with us to watch Grace while Steven played and I turned pages.
We were all so thankful to spend some special time with these special people!

UNCC visit
In September, we took the kids to UNCC for their first ever visit to our university. We all had a great time walking around, checking out the bookstore and eating at the campus Wendy's!
Steven and I loved reminiscing about our college days there!
Labor Day Mountain Trip!
On Sunday of Labor Day weekend, our family took a trip to the mountains. We drove up Sunday after breakfast and packing. We stopped for lunch and nursing Grace at Cookout in Lenoir.
When we arrived in Blowing Rock, we played in the park until storms forced us inside our van. Then we checked Ito our hotel room. The kids were SO excited since this was their first hotel stay! They especially wanted to go to the indoor pool. So once we got there and settled in, we went to the pool for some swimming. The kids loved jumping in and splashing around!
Later that evening we went to Makato's Japanese Steakhouse for a fun show and some delicious food.
The next morning, Isaac woke up with bad leg pain which caused him to have trouble walking. We think he pulled a muscle while swimming because he was back to normal the next day. But we felt so sad for our little man!!
After breakfast at the hotel and packing up, we headed to downtown Boone to walk around. We put Grace in one stroller and Isaac in another! After window shopping, we had lunch at the Mellow Mushroom. Then we headed to Julian Price Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway where the kids played in some awesome creeks! At first Isaac wasn't up to playing but eventually he wanted to give it a try. He ended up playing for almost two hours after that!
Once we got back to the van, it was 5 PM. We discussed how we were sad that it was the last day of our pool being opened for the year. Of course it was too late for us to go home and swim in our neighborhood pool. However since we were in Blowing Rock we decided to give their neighborhood pool a try. We went in, paid, and swam for an hour and a half. It was a great experience! The kids loved the blue slide the best! Isaac needed help to get up, but he had no problem sliding down!!
After all that fun, we went to Woodlands BBQ for dinner and then headed down the mountain.
What a special time together!!
