Sister Time!
Kati and I had the awesome opportunity to take a sister getaway to the mountains a couple weeks ago. We left on Thursday and came back Saturday. We talked nonstop for three days!!! It was especially momentous since this is the first trip we've taken together since we've been adults. It was so special, so needed, and such a blessing.
We spent most of Thursday in Boone. We ate at the Mellow Mushroom (one of our faves!) and walked downtown Boone in the afternoon. Then we headed to the cabin to settle in. Once we unpacked, we got our running clothes on and tried to run up the mountain road beside the cabin. We didn't actually run all the way, but we did make it to the top for a beautiful view and some fellowship with cows and horses! Then we ran down the mountain, which was much easier. ;) Dinner was at Smokey Mountain BBQ, and we stayed and talked till they closed, which was awesome.
Friday morning we hiked Mount Jefferson, and here are a couple pictures of us while we were at Luther Rock:
We went to lunch afterwards at Brick Stone Pizza (these sisters LOVE pizza), and then we walked around downtown West Jefferson. We headed to the cabin for naps (ahhhh!) and then had a late dinner at Shokudo Japanese.
On Saturday, we packed up and headed on our way home. Before leaving the area, though, we went to the West Jefferson Farmer's Market and then on to Blowing Rock for lunch (again) at the Mellow Mushroom. (at least it wasn't the exact same location. Didn't I already say we reallyreallyreally love pizza?!)
When we got back, we were SO thankful for all the time we'd had to bond and fellowship as sisters. It still wasn't enough, though, so we've decided to make these getaways a regular thing! I'm already excited about our next one, whenever it is!
Kati, I cherish having you as my sister, and I am grateful for the strength and beauty of our relationship with one another. You are a treasure to me! I love you!
